Today was pretty great. We spent the day at Ehren and Lindsay’s house for a BBQ celebrating Ehren’s graduation. The weather was perfect, the food was delicious, we got to see lots of friends and family, and all of the kids were in good moods all day! It was fun watching the littles run and dance and play.

Day 115
For Mothers Day we went to Oma’s house for a visit after church. And you can’t go to Oma’s house without walking around the garden and looking for flowers with Trevor. Juniper picked some daisies.

Day 116
A little bit of berry picking and some sword fighting makes for a fun end to a long day.

Day 117
Shaun tilled the garden plot today! One step closer to getting it planted. It’s a nice size garden and we’re excited to see if we can grow anything there. (Our last “gardening” attempt was a complete failure. Darn you Florida hahah) The kids decided that it would be fun to throw the dirt around. It was adorable how much they were giggling, but they were sure DIRTY when we went inside! And Flynn’s hair being so blonde, you could see every speck of dirt on his head!

Day 118
I think these are the funniest pictures of Juniper and I that we’ve taken in a long time. We relaxed on the deck for a while tonight after dinner, and then we spent some time pulling weeds in the front yard. We got a lot done, but there is so much more to do! Our neighbors came by for a visit. They have a little girl a little older than Juniper. We chatted while the girls ran around playing tag and hide-n-seek. As it got darker, the fireflies came out! They were fun to chase.

Day 190
While we were playing in the back yard today, a hot air balloon flew by! It was so low we could talk to the people in it! Definitely caught us by surprise. I’m glad my camera turned on in time to snap a quick picture. (Have I mentioned how much I love hot air balloons?)

Day 120
It’s official. We have a garden! We planted about half of the plot this evening with tomatoes, carrots, lettuce, green beans and mustard greens. We are planning on planted some peppers, peas and watermelon tomorrow. Maybe some other things too. I also planted a mini herb garden in a pot on the deck.

I’m so sad right now! But not I’m-in-my-bedroom-crying-because-some-terrible-thing-happened sad. It’s more of a I-had-an-awesome-idea-that-someone-else-beat-me-to kind of sad. I had this post planned for the past couple of months and it was going to be awesome! But these folks beat me to it! That is how I eat cupcakes, and it is definitely the best way to do so. See, look at my notebook! I even wrote it down! I had taken some pictures but they didn’t turn out very good, so I put it off. But now that it has already been posted somewhere else, I can’t post it or I’ll look like a copy cat. Oh well, I guess I won’t be that famous lady who changed the cupcake eating world with her genius idea. So the lesson learned today is: when you have a great idea, don’t put it off! Now I want to go eat a cupcake.

Whenever Juniper has a cupcake, she hands it to me and asks me to make it into a sandwich for her. Even she understands that this is how cupcakes should be consumed. :)

I am having such a hard time getting started this morning! I guess it’s not even technically morning anymore… Which just proves my point. So just to procrastinate a little more, here are some things I’ve been loving lately.

We need to get our garden going… This week is the plan.

Lately I’ve been loving this website.

This site has a lot of recipes that are interesting!

My craft room needs this print.

This adorable dress makes me want to go home and sew something.

These activity books are so sweet, I need to make one for Juniper.

I’d forgotten how much I love Target… They have the prettiest plates.

I really need this shirt… Or this one! Or ALL of these! (I love t-shirts.)

I made the cutest cupcakes for Mothers Day! Inspired by this post..

I might be slightly obsessed with cupcakes, these are on my to-do list!

We had a lovely weekend. Saturday Shaun’s cousins had a BBQ to celebrate graduation (Congratulations again Ehren!!) and the day was full of sunshine, good food and family. And for Mothers day I made these adorable cupcakes and we had a delicious dinner at my mother-in-law’s house. I think I’m spoiled with all the good food I didn’t have to cook myself this weekend! Just thinking about it all is making me so hungry. The German potato salad Jane sent home with us is calling my name. Is the work day over yet?

Day 107
We had our very first yard sale today. Every year on the first Saturday in May our neighborhood has a huge sale, and it was completely ridiculous how many people were there! It was a long day, but we had fun.

Day 108
A little mulberry picking after church. Look at all those berries! Juniper loves holding the bowl for me while I climb up on the fence to get the berries from the higher branches.

Day 109
The kids had a lot of fun on our rockclimbing trip with Julie and Dusty. Juniper was climbing all over the place and Flynn was slightly obsessed with the rope. It will be fun to bring them climbing when they are bigger.

Day 110
Today wasn’t the most exciting day, but we did spend a little time outside having a snack while Flynn took his afternoon nap. (Juniper took a picture of our newest bloom.)

Day 111
Juniper and I did some more berry picking before I left for work this morning. It was such a beautiful day, I was a little sad that I had to leave and sit in the office all day.

Day 112
Shaun and I took the kids to Shelter Gardens before dinner tonight. The roses were so pretty. I love watching Flynn walk around, he just gets so excited. He’s pretty much the cutest little boy ever.

Day 113
Yes, more mulberries! There are so many ripe berries, we go outside and pick them almost every day. Today we even convinced Shaun to climb up on the roof to pick some from the top branches.

So, I don’t often talk about my work work on here. I typically like to focus more on non-work related happenings. But a couple of exciting work-related things have been happening and I thought I’d share. First of all, the wheels have started turning for me to have a full-time position where I have been working part-time since December. It isn’t official yet, they need to get approval before they can make me an offer. But we’re hoping it goes through because it will open up more time for us to spend together as a family. I know what you’re thinking, how is working full-time going to give us more family time? Well, if I have a good job Shaun can cut down his night job hours and actually be home in the evenings. And that is pretty exciting! So our prayers are definitely in favor of full-time.

Also, a while back I designed a marketing flyer for Little Me Tea that had a few custom logos on it. They are pretty simple, but Melinda liked them so much she decided to put them on the new packaging for Little Me Tea! I think it’s neat that something I illustrated is going to be on a product package in stores. Melinda recently sent us some Little Me Tea and Juniper was pretty excited, she likes the grape one best. (Flynn is also a new fan.) Juniper wanted to send Melinda a thank you letter (Okay okay, it was my idea.) so she wrote one all by herself and drew a picture of her with a cup of juice. We put a stamp on it and she put it in the mailbox. She was a little upset that the mailman didn’t come right away to take it, but I promised that they would come tomorrow.

On a side note, I LOVE Juniper’s drawings. She recently drew pictures of each of us that I’m planning on framing. I’ll share them as soon as I do, they are so stinking cute.

We had our first out-of-town house guests this week! Our good friends Julie and Dusty, and their ADORABLE little baby Troy, are driving from Florida to Idaho and spent a couple of nights here in Missouri with us. We had so much fun!! We went rock climbing, ate some yummy food, played with the babies, walked around the neighborhood looking at houses for sale (The baked goods offer still stands for if you guys move here!), picked mulberries in our backyard, and stayed up way too late being goofy and laughing.

You know how there are different levels of friends? Like, there are people you are on friendly terms with, and then there are people you love to spend time with, and then there are people you can’t imagine your life without. Well, Julie is about 10 steps above that last ‘friend level’. It was so nice getting to visit, I miss her already. But we are both going to be in Connecticut at the same time for a few days in June, so we’ll get to hang out again soon!!

At one point in the night, after we had tried several times to head to bed without much luck, my husband asked us if we remembered Furbies. That of course set us off on yet another trip down memory lane. Then he said “You remember how they were activated by motion and sound, and if you put two of them right in front of each other they would just keep setting themselves off forever?” Julie and I were like “Yeah that was so annoying!” And then Shaun very lovingly pointed at the two of us and we finally understood where he was going with that! I love that boy, but I had to punch him for that one haha! I of course just had to make this image after that remark. So this one is for you Julie, my Furby friend forever and ever.

I made these shorts for Juniper a couple of years ago when she was itty bitty. There was a matching shirt too. The shirt fit her great, the shorts… not so much! They were enormous! I just found the outfit in a box while I was organizing my craft room the other night. I had forgotten all about them, but it turns out the shorts fit her perfectly now! Of course, the matching shirt is tiny. Oh well! She loves her new shorts, even two years later. I’ll take a picture of the matching shirt sometime so you can see the awesomely girly skull fabric I used.

I still have a bunch I need to finish! I thought it would be cute to take a picture of the kids with all of the hats piled on their heads. Of course, they’re a couple of goofballs! And Juniper got a very important phone call in the middle of our photo shoot that she just had to take. You don’t send Tinkerbell to voice mail.
